Recognized as a “Green Factory”: WONDERLAB Sets a Sustainability Benchmark for the Probiotic Industry Through Its BALANCE Strategy

2025-10-16

On October 11, the Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology released its annual list of Green Factories. WONDERLAB’s production and smart manufacturing base stood out among the city’s applicant companies for its systematic innovation in green manufacturing and was selected for the list.

Serving as an important vehicle for WONDERLAB’s “BALANCE” sustainability strategy, the base integrates sustainability into the entire probiotic R&D and manufacturing process. Its selection is both authoritative recognition of its green capabilities and a “WONDERLAB example” for the probiotic industry’s low-carbon transition.

Green Foundations

Making environmental responsibility part of the growth story

WONDERLAB has long embedded “green” principles in its foundation for growth. As a Shenzhen specialized and innovative enterprise, WONDERLAB has tens of thousands of square meters of GMP Class 100,000 cleanrooms and an internationally leading Class 10,000 R&D center. It also took the lead in securing the industry’s first Product Carbon Footprint Certification (for adult broad-spectrum probiotics and children’s probiotics) and a Green and Low-Carbon Enterprise Assessment Certificate. Guided by science-based development, the company has built an efficient, clean green manufacturing system by strengthening energy management, upgrading production lines, and adopting intelligent operations. These efforts have produced tangible progress in improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions, laying a solid foundation for its Green Factory recognition.

Green in Action

Turning low-carbon commitments into measurable results

Green principles are also translated into action across the entire value chain. From 2022 to 2025, WONDERLAB continued to implement energy-saving upgrades across its production lines. Over seven seasons of the “Empty Bottle Return Program” in three years, it collected more than 2.2 million empty bottles and reduced carbon emissions by approximately 27 tonnes. Internally, the company deepened environmental awareness through green manufacturing training and low-carbon workplace initiatives; externally, it promoted supplier carbon inventories and optimized green packaging and logistics. These initiatives closely align with the “Benefit” and “Creative-recycle” pillars of the “BALANCE” strategy, turning strategic objectives into measurable green outcomes.

Green Innovation

Anchoring the future through strategy

“Green is the future.” WONDERLAB’s recognition as a Green Factory sets a sustainability benchmark for the industry. Within the “BALANCE” strategy framework, WONDERLAB is using three-phase goals and seven strategic pillars to advance the transition from product carbon neutrality to group-wide carbon peaking. With technological innovation as an engine, WONDERLAB is increasing R&D investment in clean energy, packaging circularity, and carbon-footprint management. Through technology sharing, standards development, and ecosystem building, it aims to drive green upgrades across the industrial chain. The company is working to evolve from a green product manufacturer into a builder and advocate of green manufacturing systems, supporting the industry’s shift toward greener and smarter development.

WONDERLAB will continue to use its Green Factory recognition as a new reference point, implementing its green development strategy across the product low-carbon transition and ecosystem circularity, exploring new pathways for sustainable growth, and guiding the industry toward a greener, lower-carbon future.
